I’m Maria Hamnered, and I live in the little gem of a town called Lidköping, Sweden. My everyday life is filled with work, sports, music, and all the things that make up family life. But whenever we get the chance, we pack our bags and cross the Atlantic — to the country that has captured my heart: the United States.

Maybe it’s in my blood. More than a hundred years ago, parts of my family emigrated to America, and ever since, the connection between Sweden and the U.S. has felt alive within me. Every time I set foot on American soil, it feels like coming home — whether it’s in a buzzing big city, a cozy country bar in Nashville, or along a coastal road in New Jersey.
