When most people think of Nashville, music usually takes center stage — but the city also has a thriving craft beer scene that deserves the spotlight. One of the most talked-about breweries right now is TailGate Brewery — a local favorite with big personality, great pizza, and deep Nashville roots. Here’s everything you need to know — plus a few other breweries worth adding to your beer trail.
When we visited on a warm summer day, that cold beer — or two — hit the spot perfectly!

TailGate proudly calls itself independent — with one owner and zero investors. That independence gives them the freedom to brew exactly what they’re passionate about, without anyone telling them what to do. Born and brewed in Nashville, TailGate has grown into several taprooms across the city, all built around three things: craftsmanship, community, and good vibes.
At TailGate, it’s all about pairing beer, pizza, and fun. Their flagship location in West Nashville sits on a spacious property with a full restaurant, outdoor bar, pizza kitchen, and lively atmosphere. They brew everything from classic styles to bold experiments like Peanut Butter Milk Stout and tart seasonal sours.

TailGate now has taprooms all around Nashville, making it easy to combine sightseeing with beer tasting:
West Nashville (Headquarters) – Large venue with a restaurant, outdoor patio, and guided brewery tours.
Music Row – Central location, laid-back atmosphere, and usually some great cider on tap.
East Nashville – The experimental hub, featuring wild-fermented and spontaneous brews.
Germantown – Urban and trendy, known for craft seltzers and proximity to the stadiums.
South Nashville – Spacious taproom offering beer, cider, and full food service.
Hendersonville – Chill lakefront vibes — ideal for a relaxed afternoon outing.
Murfreesboro & Chattanooga – Newer locations for those exploring beyond the city.
Each taproom has its own personality — from urban edge to Southern charm. Visiting a few different locations gives you a full picture of how TailGate experiments with flavors depending on the neighborhood — like funky wild ales in East Nashville or refreshing seltzers in Germantown.
TailGate Brewery captures what Nashville is all about: creativity, community, and passion. Whether you’re hanging out on the big patio in West Nashville, sipping something adventurous in East, or enjoying a slice of pizza with a local IPA, you’ll get a real taste of the city’s soul.
So next time you’re in Music City, take a little break from the tunes — and let the beer play the lead.
